I love this book。 I loved that my children saw themselves in those who are cared for by a God who is a mother。 And I loved seeing myself in the face of God。 Images of God as a she-bear, a breastfeeding mother, a hen protecting her chicks slip through the pages of our Bible, but so much of what we absorb in sermons and books grounds us down in masculine images of Shepherds and Kings。 Pecinovsky digs deep into the Bible to unearth a picture of God that holds us each, as a mother holds a weeping ch I love this book。 I loved that my children saw themselves in those who are cared for by a God who is a mother。 And I loved seeing myself in the face of God。 Images of God as a she-bear, a breastfeeding mother, a hen protecting her chicks slip through the pages of our Bible, but so much of what we absorb in sermons and books grounds us down in masculine images of Shepherds and Kings。 Pecinovsky digs deep into the Bible to unearth a picture of God that holds us each, as a mother holds a weeping child to her breast。 。。。more

I bought this book for my mother on the release date, which was also international women's day! I think she will love it! Absolutely stunning, thought-provoking images of Mother God。 I love how this story pushes the boundaries of how I imagined God growing up (and still to this day)。 A fabulous opportunity for kids to imagine God broadly and lovingly in their lives。

This lovely lyrical and gently rhyming picture book shows God as Mother in all aspects of the natural world。 God as mother in labor, God as mother bear, God as seamstress are a few of the ways the author shows the Feminine God。 The illustrations are breathtaking with endearing scenes in rich jewel tones。 If Mother is Love and Love is God, then Mother is God。 A beautiful book。

As others have said I wish I had this book as a child! It is beautiful and it is such good theology too, drawing on images from the Bible that depict God as our Mother。 The illustrations are gorgeous too!

Mother God is such a beautiful, important book! Bringing biblical images of divine feminine to young readers with gentle rhymes and gorgeous illustrations, I highly recommend this book for all churches and families exploring God beyond "male" and "Father。" This beautiful book is inclusive in words and images of people with different genders, races, abilities and life experiences。 I have been looking forward to this book for a long time and now it's here, I want to give it to everyone! You know God the Father,But God is your Mother too。You are made in Her image—She is making all things new。The Bible describes God in many beautiful feminine images: a woman labouring to birth her child; a mother nursing her newborn or teaching her toddler how to walk; a hen caring for her chicks; Wisdom who teaches, creates, and orders all things。 For years I have felt very much at home with feminine language and imagery for the divine。 But I rarely encounter it in worship, and more rarely still You know God the Father,But God is your Mother too。You are made in Her image—She is making all things new。The Bible describes God in many beautiful feminine images: a woman labouring to birth her child; a mother nursing her newborn or teaching her toddler how to walk; a hen caring for her chicks; Wisdom who teaches, creates, and orders all things。 For years I have felt very much at home with feminine language and imagery for the divine。 But I rarely encounter it in worship, and more rarely still in books for children。 In an effort to be inclusive, we often remove any reference to gender。 The result is that some children never see themselves reflected in descriptions of God, while others see only themselves。 What a welcome gift, then, is this beautiful picture book which explores feminine images of God from Scripture and invites children (and all of us) to experience God as Mother—or perhaps, to see reflected in words and pictures those experiences we have already had。I was actually caught off guard by the emotional impact of seeing aspects of my own experience as a woman and mother (and daughter) portrayed with such honesty and care。 I highly recommend this book for parents, grandparents, clergy, and educators。 But you might want to buy a copy keep for yourself as a reminder that the divine image is in everyone。 。。。more

MOTHER GOD explores feminine images of God。 God is seen as a birthing, nursing, nurturing mother, a mother hen gathering her chicks under her wing, a mother bear protecting her cubs, and as an old, wise woman。 God is a loving mother and calls you her "beloved。" Inspired by Scripture。 The gorgeous illustrations by Khoa Le pair perfectly with Teresa Kim Pecinovsky's lovely, lyrical text。 Beautiful! Love love love love love Mother God!This is a beautiful celebration of God in all her glory。 God as a bear defending her cubs。God as a mother snuggling her child。 God as a birthing mother。 God as a mother hen。Each page, each illustration, each scriptural reference is inspiring and exhilarating to read with young kids。 It's the best theology book for kids I've ever read。 Highly, highly recommend this for libraries, churches, spiritual families, religious families, and everyone else。Marty Love love love love love Mother God!This is a beautiful celebration of God in all her glory。 God as a bear defending her cubs。God as a mother snuggling her child。 God as a birthing mother。 God as a mother hen。Each page, each illustration, each scriptural reference is inspiring and exhilarating to read with young kids。 It's the best theology book for kids I've ever read。 Highly, highly recommend this for libraries, churches, spiritual families, religious families, and everyone else。Marty 。。。more

This may be written as children’s book, but it is truly a book for all ages。 It’s message is theologically rich; each feminine, motherly metaphor can be found in scripture。 The illustrations are incredible; they capture a spectrum of motherhood instead of a single story or representation。 I found myself pausing on each page to think about the words and images。 I am delighted to add this to my daughter’s library knowing she will be learning of an expansive, inclusive, mysterious, loving God。

Finally。 Teresa Kim Pecinovsky and Khoa Le accomplished no small task。 Imagining God as anything other than male has been a years long journey for me。 It has felt clunky and sticky at times。 The author used scripture to beautifully highlight the female attributes of God。 By the time we got to the last page, I was in tears。 This book is holy work。 I try to never ever speak for God but I feel like after reading this book, God simply sighed deeply, uttered “finally” and took a nap。

This is a theologically sound, inclusive, and expressive tapestry of wonder about God that invites us to share in the recognition that God’s image contains all of us。 Gorgeously illustrated, it pairs perfectly with the author’s beautiful prose。 Allow yourself to embrace that God encompasses all that is in this book and I dare you to view God in the same, limited way again。 You won’t。

From the gorgeous illustrations to the lyrical prose, this book is beautiful beginning to end。 Perfect for imbuing your God-talk with feminine imagery and metaphors to shape young minds toward care, justice, and peace。 Every church nursery should have a copy。

Jenny

The literary and visual illustration of mother God are inclusive and expansive giving us a fuller understanding of who truly God is。 It is both scripturally sound and warming to the soul。 This will be a family classic for sure 💛

Mother God is the book I wish I had as a child。 It is the book that I have been yearning for someone to be bold enough to write。 Pecinovsky weaves God's feminine imagery, depicted in Scripture throughout the Bible, into this beautiful book。 As a Kids, Youth, and Family Minister, this book will be one I am quick to recommend。 It is healing, inclusive, and holy。 It is a gift that I cannot wait to share with others。 Mother God is the book I wish I had as a child。 It is the book that I have been yearning for someone to be bold enough to write。 Pecinovsky weaves God's feminine imagery, depicted in Scripture throughout the Bible, into this beautiful book。 As a Kids, Youth, and Family Minister, this book will be one I am quick to recommend。 It is healing, inclusive, and holy。 It is a gift that I cannot wait to share with others。 。。。more

As soon as it came in the mail, my daughter could not stop holding it。 Before I could even get it out of the box, she pulled it out, brought it to her mom and sat in her lap waiting for her to read it。 She loved the beautiful artwork and kept asking her mama and papa to read the words over and over。 We loved the book, the feminine imagery of the divine, the illustrations, and Pecinovsky's beautiful words。 We would recommend this to any and all parents。 It is amazing - thank you! What a beautiful book about God。 In the Bible God isn’t just our father but also our mother and this book shows that。 I was in tears reading it。 I can’t wait to share it with my kids。

This book was everything I hoped it would be。 Lucious illustrations。 Diverse mothers。 Scriptural imagery of God。 I will return to this again and again to ground myself in the feminine image of God。
